Mr Dan Clifford
Managing Director and CEO
Mr Clifford joined Aurelia Metals as Managing Director and CEO in November 2019.
Mr Clifford is a Mining Engineer with more than 25 years of experience across the industry. He was most recently the Managing Director and CEO of Stanmore Coal Limited (ASX: SMR) (Stanmore), a role he held from November 2016 to October 2019. During his tenure there, Stanmore saw significant growth in both output and profitability at its flagship Isaac Plains metallurgical coal mine in Queensland. This dynamic was reflected in Stanmore’s strong share price performance over this period.
Prior to this, Mr Clifford was CEO of Solid Energy New Zealand Limited from March 2014 to November 2016. He guided the company through a period of significant financial pressure and challenging market conditions, including leading an asset sales program. Mr Clifford has also held senior technical and operational positions for Glencore plc, Anglo American plc and BHP Group Limited.
Mr Peter Trout
Chief Operating Officer
Mr Trout joined Aurelia Metals as Chief Operating Officer in November 2019
Mr Trout is a Mining Engineer with 25 years of experience in technical, operational and executive roles. He was most recently Executive General Manager (Technical Services and Studies) for Asian regional copper-gold producer, PanAust Limited. Prior to this, Mr Trout was the CEO of Caledon Coal Pty Limited, operator of the Cook metallurgical coal mine in Queensland. Mr Trout has also held senior operational and executive roles with Perilya Limited, Newcrest Mining Limited (where he spent the majority of his 10 years in underground operational and management positions) and Mount Isa Mines Limited.
Mr Tim Churcher
Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Mr Tim Churcher joined Aurelia Metals Limited as Chief Financial Officer in September 2014.
Mr Churcher is a senior finance professional with over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry in a range of financial and technical disciplines. He is experienced in developing and leading the finance function, along with corporate strategy and planning, equity and debt capital markets, business development and investor relations.
His finance experience includes Chief Financial Officer roles with Evolution Mining Limited from 2011 and with Unity Mining Limited from 2006. Prior to this, Mr Churcher was employed in private equity investment with Renaissance Capital Limited and prior to that in stockbroking with Goldman Sachs (formerly JB Were & Son Limited). His career started in geological exploration roles with Normandy and Rio Tinto in Australia.
He is an Associate of CPA Australia and has a Bachelor degree in geology, a Master’s degree in minerals exploration from Imperial College London and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK.
Mr Scott Ramsay
Mr Scott Ramsay joined Aurelia Metals in May 2016 as General Manager of the Hera operations.
Mr Ramsay is a geologist and mine management professional with over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry, with the last 8 years holding senior management roles for Rio Tinto. Mr Ramsay's background is predominantly in managing underground mines, starting up and establishing the systems required to successfully transition from open pit to underground operations, utilising business improvement principles.
Mr Ramsay's experience includes managing large underground operations and technical teams both here in Australia and overseas across a range of commodities including copper, gold, diamonds, and uranium, using multiple underground extraction methods. Over the past 12 years Mr Ramsay has previously held senior site management roles with Rio Tinto at Ranger Mine, Oyu Tolgoi Mine in Mongolia, Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah USA, and Argyle Diamonds, and previous to this mine geology and resource roles at several junior companies.
Mr Ramsay attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane graduating with a BSc (Geol).
Mr Craig Thomas
Mr Craig Thomas joined Aurelia Metals in April 2020 as General Manager of Peak Gold Mine.
Mr Thomas is a highly experienced executive with over 30 years' experience in the mining industry. Possessing strong technical, operational and commercial skills, he has led complex gold and base metal operations and acquired extensive underground mining experience from roles in Australia, PNG and Africa. Mr Thomas has held corporate and site based leadership roles with Weatherly International, Lihir Gold, IAMGold, Placer Dome, Western Metals and Mt Isa Mines.
Mr Thomas graduated from The University of Queensland in Brisbane where he was awarded a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) with First Class Honours.
